WILL THE EXOS-9 WORK WITH MY PHONE OR DEVICE?
The Exos-9 will work wirelessly with most Bluetooth audio-compatible devices. If your device supports Bluetooth audio, you should be in good shape. Also, the Exos-9 has a 3.5mm input, which means that anything you can plug headphones into will also work. iPhones, iPods, Android phones, MP3 players, even CD players and tape decks can be played through the Exos-9.
I WANT TO PLAY PANDORA, (SPOTIFY, GOOGLE PLAY ALL ACCESS, IHEART RADIO, MP3S, FLAC, AAC ETC.) ON THE EXOS-9. WILL IT WORK?
If you can listen to it on your phone or tablet, or through your headphones, you can almost definitely also stream it to the Exos-9 with Bluetooth, or play it through the Aux-In jack.
CAN I USE THE EXOS-9 TO WATCH VIDEO OR PLAY GAMES?
Absolutely! The Exos-9 can deliver all the power and depth of a “true” 2.1 system in a single unit. Depending on your device, you may find that using the 3.5mm aux-in jack works best. This is because some devices create a small delay when streaming over Bluetooth, which can slightly throw off the viewing experience. Your mileage may vary, but using the aux-in jack can sometimes create a better viewing experience.
HOW DO I SET UP THE EXOS-9?
All you need is something to play music from, the Exos-9, and maybe a wall outlet. Take the Exos-9 out of the box, plug it in, switch it on, and either pair your phone/tablet/PC with the Exos via Bluetooth, or plug an audio source into the Aux-in jack on the back. From there, enjoy the sound! It’s as easy as that, you should be up and running within a minute.
With a large, powerful, bass-reflex speaker like the Exos-9, where you put the speaker can affect the sound. If you place the Exos-9 near a wall or in a corner, the bass may increase. You can use the equalizer to adjust it if necessary.
DO I NEED A SMARTPHONE OR TABLET TO USE THE EXOS-9?
No. Any Bluetooth-capable source can be wirelessly connected to the Exos-9, and anything you can plug headphones into can be plugged into the Exos-9. This really includes just about anything you might want to listen to, not just phones or tablets!
HOW DO I CONTROL THE SPEAKER?
Power, volume, stereo link, EQ and playback (play/pause) controls are located on the speaker itself. You can also use your smartphone or other paired device to select a playlist, streaming audio source, volume, etc.
CAN I STREAM MUSIC (PANDORA®, SPOTIFY, YOUTUBE, MP3S, AAC, ETC.) FROM MY COMPUTER TO THE EXOS-9 SPEAKER?
Yes, as long as your computer is enabled for Bluetooth and is within 30 feet of the speaker. Or, you can use the aux input to connect your PC to the Exos-9.
IF I’M USING MY SMARTPHONE WITH THE EXOS-9, WILL PHONE CALLS PLAY THROUGH THE SPEAKER?
No. A phone call will mute the music/audio and only play through your phone. After the call, your music/audio should resume automatically.
HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?
Under typical use, the battery should last 8-10 hours. Battery life varies a lot depending on the music and volume. Music with very little bass, played quietly, can use many times less power than loud music with a lot of bass. The Battery Save mode uses this fact to extend battery life, by removing some of the lowest, most power-hungry bass harmonics.
CAN I CONNECT TWO EXOS-9 SPEAKERS?
Yes! Two Exos-9 speakers can be linked wirelessly so they play synchronized audio. You can have them mirror each other, or have them form a stereo pair – one plays the left and one plays the right. This is done simply by pressing the “LINK” button on both speakers in quick succession. They then pair to each other and both play your audio.
HOW DOES THE EQ WORK?
The EQ has 5 bands, ranging from low (bass) to high (treble) frequencies. You can use the EQ to dial in the perfect sound. Press the right and left arrows to scroll through the EQ bands, which blink when they are selected. Press up/down to raise/lower a given band. Raising (e.g.) the lowest band will make the bass louder, and lowering it will likewise make it quieter. Going past the 5th band will select the first EQ preset, which is a pre-programmed setting for the equalizer. There are 4 presets, 5 if you include Battery Save Mode. Press the right arrow again and you’ll turn off the EQ.
WHERE CAN I GET A SECOND BATTERY PACK?
After launch, we will be offering battery packs by themselves. Currently, all battery packs are needed for production units, but more will be available soon.
IS THE EXOS-9 WATERPROOF?
Although the Exos-9 can be a great outdoor companion, take care, as it is not waterproof or water-resistant.
